Working with ticketsEveryday conversations

Quick actions

Send quick answers, correct replies, and notify teammates when the member responds.

Use quick replies for short answers, edit or delete a reply when you need a correction, and subscribe teammates who need to hear when the member responds. These actions run inside the ticket channel.

Send a quick reply

Quick commands send the required text immediately, without a compose window.

/modmail quick reply text:Your refund has been approved.
/modmail quick areply text:Your request is being reviewed.

The second command hides your identity from the member while preserving it for staff. Quick replies are text-only; use the regular reply options for attachments.

Edit a sent reply

You can edit your own staff replies. The correction updates both the ticket channel copy and the member's DM.

  1. Enable Discord's Developer Mode if needed.
  2. Right-click the staff reply and select Copy Message ID.
  3. Run /modmail edit in the ticket channel.
  4. Paste the ID into Message ID and enter the correction in New message.
  5. Submit, then check the updated reply.

You can also use /modmail quick edit with messageid, or type .edit 123456789012345678 Your corrected wording. The dashboard keeps the earlier text available through Show edited.

Delete a sent reply

Run /modmail delete with messageid, or type .delete followed by the message ID. You can delete your own replies; the server owner can also delete staff replies. Member messages aren't eligible for these actions.

Deletion removes the reply from the member's DMs as well as the ticket channel. If they've already read a mistake, send a correction too.

The dashboard record marks logged replies as deleted. Use Show deleted to include them in a transcript review.

Get notified when the member replies

Subscriptions mention selected people when a new member message arrives. They don't change who can read the channel.

CommandEffect
/modmail subscribeAdds you to the ticket's subscribers.
/modmail unsubscribeRemoves your subscription.
Either command with userAdds or removes the selected teammate.

A ticket has up to three subscribers, and bots can't subscribe. Successful changes are announced in the channel. Duplicate subscriptions and other problems are explained privately.

If you prefer chat commands, .sub and .notify subscribe; .unsub and .unnotify unsubscribe. Each accepts a mention or user ID.

Hand a conversation to another teammate

Leave context before changing notifications so the next person can continue.

  1. Post an internal note with the current question, promises, and next action.
  2. Unsubscribe the outgoing helper with /modmail unsubscribe and user.
  3. Subscribe the replacement with /modmail subscribe and user.

Next steps

Close the ticket when it's finished, or review the transcript to check prior edits and notes.
