Categories and the Ticket Menu
Find the right page for changing ticket destinations, staff settings, or member choices.
Use Categories to change how a support route works. Use Ticket Menu to change how members find that route. Older references may call the menu page Flow; its dashboard label is Ticket Menu.
Choose the right page
Open the page that owns the setting you want to change.
| You want to change… | Open |
|---|---|
| Where ticket channels open | Categories |
| Staff access, admin roles, or opening pings | Categories |
| Opening messages, snippets, or transcript destinations | Categories |
| Which choices members see and in what order | Ticket Menu |
| Submenus, menu style, or confirmation before opening | Ticket Menu |
| Wording for just one menu entry | Ticket Menu, using its presentation overrides |
Category settings are shared by every menu entry linked to that category. If wording differs in one place, check that entry's name, description, or emoji override before changing the category.
Add a new support topic
Create the destination first, then make it available to members.
- On Modmail > Categories, create a category named "Partnerships."
- Choose its Discord category, opening message, and staff roles. Save.
- On Ticket Menu, add an action and select Partnerships in Category.
- Set the member-facing label and place it in the menu.
- Select Save Changes, then check the member experience.
Later, you can change the opening message on Categories once. Every menu action linked to Partnerships uses that category's message.
Move between the two pages
In the category library, select a category to see where it's used in the menu. Follow a usage link to open that entry. In an action's menu editor, select View category to open its destination settings.
Remove a route
To hide a choice, remove its menu entry and save. Its category stays in the library for reuse. Removing a menu group also removes the entries inside it.
To delete the category too, first remove every menu entry linked to it and save. Then delete it on Categories and save again. Categories referenced by past tickets become read-only historical records; unreferenced categories are permanently removed.
Next steps
Manage categories for destination settings, or build your Ticket Menu for member choices.
