Introduction
Send messages as your bot and set personal reminders in Discord.
Text Utils helps your team send messages as your Discord bot. It also gives members personal reminders delivered to their DMs. Start with setup if you manage the bot, or choose a command below if you're ready to use it.
Send a message or set a reminder
Choose the tool that matches what you need to do.
| You want to… | Use | Read |
|---|---|---|
| Post in a server channel as the bot | /utils say | Announce with say |
| Send one member a message from the bot | /utils dm | Message a member in private |
| Get a personal reminder in your DMs | /remindme or /reminder create | Create a reminder |
| Review or cancel your reminders | /reminder list | Manage your reminders |
Staff messages can use plain text or a container with an accent color. Your bot's settings decide who can send them, whether role mentions can notify people, and where messages are logged. Reminders are personal: members don't need a staff messaging role to use them.
Set up your bot
Text Utils and Reminders start off and have separate switches. Enabling one doesn't enable the other.
- Turn on Text Utils for staff messaging, or enable Reminders for personal reminders.
- Choose who can send messages.
- Choose a moderation log and message defaults.
If you're new to the dashboard, start with configure your bot.
Know what others can see
Channel announcements appear publicly as your bot. Direct messages reach one member, but a configured moderation log also records their full content and who sent them. See how sends are tracked before using staff messaging for sensitive information.
Your reminder list and command confirmations are visible only to you. The reminder itself arrives from the bot you used to create it.
