Reminders

Create a reminder

Schedule a personal DM, choose a time, and check the confirmation.

Use /remindme to schedule a personal reminder from your bot. When it's due, the bot sends your note to your DMs with a link back to the channel where you created it. You don't need to keep Discord open.

Set your reminder

Run the command in a server channel, rather than in a DM with the bot. /reminder create works the same way as /remindme.

  1. Run /remindme or /reminder create.
  2. In time, enter when you want the reminder, such as in 30 minutes.
  3. In description, write the note you want to receive.
  4. Submit the command and check the private confirmation.

For example:

/remindme time:"in 30 minutes" description:"Check the gate assignments"

If reminder commands aren't available, ask an admin to enable Reminders in the bot's Text Utils settings. Reminders start off on new bots.

Choose a time

You can use a relative duration, a clock time, or a full date and time. The reminder must be in the future and no more than 14 days and 23 hours (359 hours) away.

You want…Example timeHow to read it
A delay from nowin 30 minutes or in 1 dayCount forward from when you run the command.
A clock timetomorrow at 6:00Tomorrow at 06:00 UTC. Ambiguous times such as at 6:00 use the next occurrence.
A specific date2026-11-01 15:00 UTCThe stated date and time. Choose a date within the scheduling window.

Clock times are read as UTC, not your local time. The confirmation displays the result in your local time zone. Check it before relying on the reminder.

The time entry can contain up to 100 characters. Your description must contain 1-500 characters after surrounding spaces are removed.

Check the confirmation

The bot privately confirms the delivery date and time with a live countdown. Discord displays the timestamp in your local time zone, so compare it with what you intended, especially after entering a UTC clock time.

If the time or wording is wrong, remove the reminder and create it again. Reminders can't be edited after creation.

If the bot can't create it

A rejected command doesn't schedule anything. Read the private response and adjust the matching part.

Time is too far aheadChoose a time within 14 days and 23 hours, or create the reminder closer to the date.
Time isn't understoodTry a simple phrase such as in 1 day or tomorrow at 6:00.
Description is empty or too longUse 1-500 characters.
You've reached a reminder quotaRemove an active reminder or wait for one to finish. See quotas.

Next steps

Review or cancel your reminders, and check delivery and troubleshooting to make sure DMs can reach you. Return to the same bot when managing a reminder: each bot has its own list.
