Reminders

Limits and reliability

Check reminder quotas and find help with late or missing DMs.

Reminders arrive as DMs from the bot you used to create them. Keep your DMs open to that bot, and check the confirmation time when scheduling. Delivery can be delayed if the bot or platform is unavailable.

Every limit in one place

Active reminders are reminders still waiting for delivery. These quotas and input limits apply when you create one.

ItemMaximum or allowed range

Your active reminders across all bots15
Everyone's active reminders on one bot200
Description1-500 characters
Time entryUp to 100 characters
Time aheadUp to 14 days and 23 hours (359 hours)

Delivered and removed reminders no longer count toward the quotas. If you reach your personal quota, remove an unwanted reminder or wait for a delivery. If the bot's shared quota is full, space becomes available as members' reminders finish or are removed.

What arrives at delivery time

Your DM includes the note, the channel where you created the reminder, and how long ago you created it. You don't need to be online or keep Discord open. The message waits in your inbox when delivery succeeds.

The bot avoids duplicate reminder DMs when recovering from an interrupted send. Routine restarts don't erase saved reminders.

If a reminder is late

If the bot or platform is briefly unavailable when a reminder is due, it keeps the reminder for delivery when service resumes. A delayed reminder keeps its original information. Allow for delays when planning something that depends on an exact minute.

Check that you're looking in the right bot's DMs. Each reminder is delivered by the bot that created it, even if you use other AeroNexus bots.

If a reminder never arrives

Check your Discord privacy settings and allow direct messages from server members for the server where you use the bot. A bot can't deliver a reminder to a closed inbox.

To check delivery after changing your settings, create a short test:

/remindme time:"in 2 minutes" description:"Check reminder delivery"

A failed delivery may be tried again, but attempts eventually stop. If the original reminder didn't arrive, create a new one after resolving the DM problem. Changing your privacy settings doesn't recreate a failed reminder.

If reminder commands are missing

Ask an admin to check the separate Reminders switch in the bot's Text Utils settings. Reminders start disabled on new bots. Run the commands in a server channel; they aren't available in DMs with the bot.

Next steps

Create a reminder and check its confirmation, or review your upcoming reminders before making room for another.
