Announce with say
Post a message as your bot in a Discord channel, with the style and mentions you choose.
Use /utils say to post in the current channel as your bot. Your personal
name doesn't appear on the announcement. If a moderation log is configured,
it records you as the sender and keeps the full message.
Post an announcement
Open the channel where you want the message to appear before starting. There's no destination option and no way to move the posted announcement.
- Run
/utils say. - Optional: Choose style and color using the options below.
- In Send a message, write your announcement in Text. You can enter up to 2,000 characters, including spaces.
- If you chose Custom color, enter six hex digits such as
2BD3AFin Color. - Review your text and submit the form.
The bot posts the announcement in that channel. Its private waiting message disappears after success; there's no separate receipt.
Choose a style and a color
Both messaging commands use the same options. Leaving style blank uses the dashboard's Default style. Leaving color blank means Default.
| For this appearance… | Choose style | Choose color |
|---|---|---|
| A container with your server's default accent | Container | Default |
| A container without an accent | Container | No color |
| A container with your own accent | Container | Custom, then enter a six-digit hex color in the form |
| A plain Discord message | Text | No color |
Text requires No color, including when Text is the server default. Any other color choice stops the command before the form opens.
Your choices apply to this message only. To change the starting choices for everyone, use message defaults.
Know which mentions notify people
The dashboard's Enable role mentions setting controls role and server-wide mentions. Senders can't override it for one message.
| Mention | Setting off, the default | Setting on |
|---|---|---|
A role, @here, or @everyone | Replaced with [mention] | Kept and allowed to notify people |
| An individual member | Visible without a notification | Visible without a notification |
To name a team without a role tag being replaced, write its name as plain
text, such as Event Team.
Correct a posted message
Text Utils doesn't offer an edit command. To correct an announcement, delete the bot's message in Discord and post a new version. Review the destination, wording, and mentions before submitting.
If the message doesn't send
Read the private notice from the bot and use the matching action below.
| What happened | What to do |
|---|---|
| The form expired or was already used | Run /utils say again. Forms last 15 minutes and can be submitted once, in the original channel. |
| You don't have permission | Ask an admin to check your allowed roles. Access must still be valid when you submit. |
| The feature or command was turned off | Ask an admin to check Text Utils and Commands settings. |
| The bot can't write to the moderation log | Restore its permissions in the configured log channel, then retry. |
| The bot can't send in this channel | Check that the channel still exists and the bot can send there. |
| The bot asks you to wait | Wait for the time shown in the private notice before trying again. |
