Create a Dashboard Role
Create a role, choose its permissions, link Discord Roles, and approve people.
A Dashboard Role groups permissions for a team or responsibility. Choose what the role can do, link Discord Roles to find eligible people, then approve each person who needs access.
Before you start
Make sure you can open Access and have connected any bots whose permissions you want to include.
- You must be the workspace owner or have the Administrator permission.
- The owner must turn on the Access switch. When it's off, only the owner can open the workspace.
- Bot-specific permissions appear after you connect that bot to the group.
Open the Permissions page
Open your group's dashboard, then select Access in the sidebar and choose Permissions.
- Select Create Dashboard Role at the bottom of the role list.
- If this is your first role, you can also select Create your first Dashboard Role on the Overview page.
The role list shows each role's permission and approval counts.
Name the role
Choose a name that describes the team's responsibility, such as Support team.
- In the Create a Dashboard Role dialog, enter a name in Dashboard Role name.
- Select Create role.
Names can be up to 100 characters and must be unique within the group, ignoring capitalization. You can rename the role later.
Creating a role doesn't give anyone access. Add permissions, link Discord Roles, and approve people individually.
Choose permissions
Permissions are grouped into workspace permissions and permissions for each connected bot. Each permission includes a description of what it lets someone do. Compare all permissions and their prerequisites in the Dashboard permission reference.
- Use Filter permissions to find a permission.
- Select the permissions this team needs. For example, View Tickets also requires View Modmail and View Bot. Required permissions are selected automatically, and turning off a required permission also turns off the permissions that depend on it.
- Select Save Changes at the bottom of the page. Select Reset to discard unsaved changes.
Saving changes updates the permissions for everyone approved on this role. If another administrator changes the role while you're editing it, reload the role, reapply your changes, and save again.
The Administrator permission gives everyone approved on the role full control, including the ability to approve other administrators. AeroNexus asks you to confirm before enabling it and again when granting access. Only enable it for people you fully trust. See how Administrator access works for details.
Link Discord Roles
Link up to three Discord Roles. Anyone who holds at least one linked role can qualify for this Dashboard Role, but they still need your approval.
- Open the role's Users tab and find Discord Role eligibility.
- Select Search Discord Roles, then choose up to three roles. Bot-managed roles aren't available in the picker.
- Select Save Discord Roles.
If the change would remove access from people already approved on this role, AeroNexus shows who will be affected. Select Save and remove access only if you want to remove those approvals.
If a Discord Role is missing, select Refresh Discord data. If a linked role was deleted in Discord, remove it from this Dashboard Role.
Test the role with a teammate
Before approving the whole team, make sure the role gives people the right access.
- On the Users tab, find a trusted teammate under Eligible people and select Grant access.
- Ask them to sign in to the dashboard and open your group.
- Check that they can see the pages and use the actions allowed by the role. For example, a role with Modmail view permissions should show Modmail but not bot management screens.
- Ask them to try an action the role doesn't include. It should be unavailable to them.
When everything looks right, approve the rest of the team. See manage grants for the day-to-day steps.
Next steps
