Slots and order
Combine up to three messages per event, arrange their delivery order, and save or remove messages.
You can save up to three join messages, three leave messages, and three boost messages for each bot. All messages that match an event send in the order you arrange on that category's page.
The 3-message limit
Each category has its own limit. Filling your join slots doesn't use any leave or boost slots. When a category has three messages, Create a new message is disabled. Remove a message and save the change to free a slot.
Each message needs text and a destination. For DMs, choose at least one source server. For channel messages, choosing the channel sets the source server. See choose destinations for the shared delivery settings, appearance options, and text limits.
Combine messages for different needs
Use separate slots when you need different destinations or event options. You don't need to fill all three.
| You want to… | Set up |
|---|---|
| Welcome someone privately and publicly | A DM greeting and a welcome-channel message |
| Keep departures visible to staff | A leave message in a staff log channel |
| Thank new and repeat boosters differently | One message for A member starts boosting and another for Every boost |
With the boost pairing, both messages match the start of a boosting streak. Only the Every boost message also sends for additional boosts during that streak.
How delivery order works
The bot sends matching messages one after another, starting at the top of the category's list. Messages for other source servers or different boost triggers are skipped for that event. A failed delivery doesn't block the remaining messages.
For example, put a short DM greeting before a longer DM with useful links if you want the member to read the greeting first.
Rearrange your slots
Use the arrow buttons on each message row to change its position.
- Open Join messages, Leave messages, or Boost messages.
- Select All and clear the search so you can see the full sequence.
- Use the up or down arrow beside a message to move it.
- Select Save Changes to apply the order, or Reset to discard it.
Until you save, the bot uses the previous order. Destination filters and search help you find messages, but they can hide other messages in the sequence.
Edit or remove a message
Open a message to change its text, destination, appearance, or event options. Select Save Changes in the editor to apply your edits.
To remove a message, use its delete action and confirm. Then select Save Changes on the category page to make the removal permanent, or Reset to undo the unsaved removal. Removing a saved message stops future deliveries of that message; it doesn't delete copies already sent in Discord.
Next steps
Run a simulation to check the saved sequence. To pause every category while keeping your messages, turn off Welcome Messages.
