Images and media

Add direct media links or upload images, arrange galleries, and provide descriptions and spoiler settings.

Use Image for a large single item, Gallery for multiple items, or a section's Thumbnail for a small image beside text. Media settings include a URL, an optional description, and a spoiler toggle.

Add an image

You can use an existing direct image link or upload a file from your device. To add a single image:

  1. In Container, add Image and open its media settings.
  2. Enter a direct PNG, JPEG, WebP, or GIF link in Image or video URL, or select Upload image to choose a file. Uploaded images are hosted on Postimages and can be up to 32 MB each.
  3. Optional: Enter an Image description of up to 1,024 characters to describe the media for people who can't see it.
  4. Optional: Turn on Hide as a spoiler.
  5. Review the preview and select Create or Save to publish.

Use a direct link to the image file rather than a web page containing it. SVG, AVIF, BMP, ICO, TIFF, HEIC, HEIF, and JPEG XL images aren't accepted by the editor. The editor checks image links before saving; a broken or unsupported image can block publication.

Add Gallery to create a list of media items. Open each item's settings to enter its URL, description, and spoiler choice. Use the Media insertion control to add another item, or Upload images to select multiple images. Use Cancel upload to stop an upload that's still running.

Keep the completed gallery within the embed's total limit of ten gallery items. A single Image counts as one of those items too. The upload control's batch allowance doesn't increase the embed's media limit.

Gallery media can use video links ending in .mp4, .webm, or .mov, including URLs with query strings or fragments after the extension. Use an existing direct URL for video; the upload control accepts images. Thumbnails support images only.

The Image choice publishes as a one-item gallery. Use its add-image action to add a second item and work with it as a gallery.

Add a thumbnail beside text

A thumbnail belongs to a section and sits beside its text. To create one:

  1. Add a Section, or select Add accessory on an existing Text block.
  2. Choose Thumbnail as the accessory.
  3. Open Thumbnail settings and enter a direct image URL or upload an image.
  4. Optional: Add a description and turn on the spoiler setting.
  5. Select Create or Save after reviewing the result.

Thumbnails count toward the component limit, but not the gallery-item counter.
